Slow Food Norwich as well as being associated with several of the small artisan food producers in Norfolk has also worked closely with a talented team of fabric and clothes designers who also promote the Slow Lifestyle ethos to life. Yesterday in Norwich we were asked to take part in the first Slow Makers market in the Magdalen Street are of the city which is full of wonderful art and crafts shops as well as a large diverse range of small food shops, markets and coffee bars. Aviva Leigh of Slow Stuff which is based in Magdalen Street was instrumental in organising the event which had many memebrs of the new Slow Makers group from Norwich present.
We were lucky to have a really lovely sunny day and the market started at 11 and went on until 3 in the afternoon. As well as the range of fabric producers and weavers stands, Slow food Norwich also had a stand and we promoted our wider Slow food movement as well as the closely related Sicilian anti Mafia organisation, Libera Terra which makes wonderful pasta, olive oil and other organic produce. The next Slow Makers market should be in August and at the moment a whole series of markets and events are being planned for this summer and autumn in Norwich.
