Slow food Norwich had the first of the planned events at the Forum in Norwich on Saturday 16th April and all present thought it was a very successful day.
The weather had been wonderful for several days before Saturday but the morning of the 16th was threatening rain, in the event it was a dry and warm day which brought out the crowds into Norwich for shopping and browsing.
There were a couple of last minute cancellations from stall holders due to illness but Brendan Playford managed to find replacements for them at very short notice. All the stall holders were small producers or businesses related to food in Norfolk and included Peter Burgess from Kitchen Garden organic boxes near Norwich and Drove orchards fruit juices from Thornham on the North Norfolk coast.

All the producers present on the day were happy with the response from the public and they all would like to take part in further markets in Norwich in the coming months.
The next Slow Food market will be at the Wells Maltings in Wells next the sea on Sunday May 29th and we hope that will prove a popular venue with both the stall holders and the general public. Please do come along as we wish to make Wells part of our wider network in North Norfolk and we hope that it will be the first of many more Slow Food markets in various towns and villages in Norfolk over the coming months and years.
Slow Food Norwich supports the Wells Maltings regeneration scheme and other community based projects in Norfolk as well as more general food related projects and events.
