Since the beginning of 2013 there have been many new and exciting developments in the UK Slow Food groups, and in the next few months there will be major changes in the organisation of groups and we at Slow Food Norwich will keep our members and interested parties informed as news unfolds.

Slow Food London and Slow Food Norwich are likely to be combined in a new south of England organisation but as discussions are taking place at present the exact outcome of the new organisation is still taking shape. As soon as we have news this will also be made available on both this blog and our other Blogger site.
 

English Organic and Biodynamic Wine Tasting

Several members of Slow Food Norwich attended a rare tasting of English organic and biodynamic wines at the Greenhouse Trust in Norwich last Friday evening.
The event was well attended and it was the last tasting of the year to be held at the Greenhouse, a popular organic and Fairtrade cafe with a wine and organic foods shop in the centre of Norwich.

Trade School at the Common Room in Norwich

Slow food Norwich together with Olivaverde took part in the first Trade School to be held in Norwich which was part of the Common Room project held at St Laurence's Church on Saturday 10th November.
The Common Room was held to try and establish community awareness of the Church and to also obtain feedback from the local community and businesses for the Churches Conservation Trust which owns the building. Fifth Sense event in Norwich

Slow food Norwich was contacted by the organisers of the Fifth Sense event in Norwich,this is to raise awareness about Anosmia or the lack of small and taste. We are very happy to support this important event being held by Fifth Sense and to have Slow Food Norwich members take part in the event on Sunday 23rd September at St Andrews Hall in Norwich.

Worstead Festival in Norfolk

Slow Food Norwich has been invited to take part in the Worstead Festival this year and we are very happy to be able to speak and give a presentation at this very popular festival in Norfolk.
The Worsted Festival takes place over two days in July, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th and has proved to be a very popular event over the many years that it has been running, it was originally started in the village in the 1960's and in the past two years it has been taken back to its original village roots...

Slow Makers Market

Slow Food Norwich as well as being associated with several of the small artisan food producers in Norfolk has also worked closely with a talented team of fabric and clothes designers who also promote the Slow Lifestyle ethos to life.
Yesterday in Norwich we were asked to take part in the first Slow Makers market in the Magdalen Street are of the city which is full of wonderful art and crafts shops as well as a large diverse range of small food shops, markets and coffee bars.

Natural Wines in Norwich

Many of our members know and frequent the Greenhouse cafe in Norwich which specialises in vegetarian and vegan drinks and meals. The produce used in the cafe is all locally produced and organic, with a special emphasis on using only the best of what can be found in Norfolk.
The shop stocks organic and Fair trade goods provided by co operative businesses and sourced from around the world to offer diversity and choice to customers.

Slow Food and Slow Wine at St Benedicts Restaurant Norwich

Slow Food Norwich together with Raffles restaurants held a Le Marche food and wine evening in Norwich on the 25th January to feature wines from a Slow Wine producer in Italy.
The wines were all from the Le Marche region of eastern Italy and included the white Passerina and red Rosso Piceno together with the rare dessert cherry wine Vini di Visiciole. Humpty Dumpty Brewery visit

Slow Food Norwich is really pleased to be organising a visit  to the Humpty Dumpty Brewery in Reedham in the spring with the help of the owners and Slow Food members Steve and Lesley.
The brewery is in the village of Reedham to the east of Norwich which is famous for its Victorian swing bridge and the name of the brewery originally came from the shape of the trains which used to pass through the village.
