Slow Food Norwich members are passionate about local food and markets in Norfolk and our main aim is to promote small artisan producers and their food related businesses in Norwich, the county of Norfolk and across East Anglia to a wider public. The Slow Food organisation throughout the world believes in good, nutritious food produced in a way that is fair on the environment and also promotes healthy eating.
In Norfolk we have a wealth of wonderful foods and producers, the county is very rural so we have a wide choice and variety of excellent produce available. There are also many excellent small food shops and markets in most of the towns and villages in the county with these widely supported by both the local population and also the many visitors to Norfolk each year. Slow Food Norwich have held events, talks and workshops at various locations in the county of Norfolk to promote these markets and their stallholders since 2010, we currently work closely with Slow Food in other parts of East Anglia and also with Slow Food London.
Many of our members are small food producers or run food and drink businesses in Norfolk with whom we have formed close links over the past few years and we co operate closely with them to raise awareness of Norfolk produced food and drink in the county and in other parts of the UK. Some of our workshops, talks, demonstrations and tasting events are also held at their business premises and these are open both to our both Slow Food members and also the general public. We are also involved with the Slow Food Forgotten Food programme which plays an important part of the work that Slow Food does in England and across the UK.
